Savage and Gray Design had the opportunity to develop the visual identity and branding for HeadSense Cymru, a research initiative and network at Bangor University focused on preventing, assessing and managing sport-related brain trauma and concussion.

The challenge was to create an identity that could communicate a serious and complex area of research while still feeling approachable, progressive and connected to sport.

The resulting brand brings together ideas of the head, movement, connection and research, creating a visual language that reflects HeadSense Cymru’s work across research, education and the sporting community.

To bring this new visual identity to life, we also produced an explainer animation for the launch of the network. We translated the key branding elements into dynamic motion graphics, turning technical sports safety guidelines and research data into a clear, engaging visual story. Mirroring our swift branding workflow, the animation production was kept fast and seamless from the initial storyboards right through to the final digital delivery.

The identity and animation have been designed to give the initiative a strong and recognisable presence across digital platforms, communications and future campaigns; helping to build awareness around an increasingly important area of sports health and safety.

A rewarding project to contribute to, and an opportunity to create an identity for work that has real potential to make a difference.
