We were proud to partner with Cardiff and Vale University Health Board to create an engaging educational animation and supporting campaign materials for their ‘Smoke Free Ambassador’ scheme. Designed to encourage young people to become advocates for smoke free living, the campaign helps learners promote healthier lifestyles both within their schools and beyond the school gates. Our role was to develop a creative and accessible visual approach that would resonate with younger audiences while clearly communicating important public health messages.

Educational Animation for Schools and Public Health Campaigns

As part of the project, we produced a fully animated explainer video featuring bespoke character design, vibrant motion graphics and clear educational messaging. The animation was created in both English and Welsh, alongside custom subtitled versions, helping ensure accessibility and wider engagement across schools and communities in Wales.
The animation was specifically designed to:

• Support smoke free education initiatives
• Encourage pupil engagement
• Communicate public health messaging in an accessible format
• Help schools deliver engaging wellbeing resources
• Promote healthier lifestyle choices among young people

At Savage and Gray Design Ltd, we specialise in educational animation, healthcare communications and public sector creative campaigns that simplify complex messages through engaging storytelling and design.

Supporting Print Design and Campaign Materials

Alongside the animation, we also designed a suite of supporting printed materials for the Smoke Free Ambassador scheme, including:

• Educational learner booklets
• Ambassador certificates
• Branded campaign assets
• Character-led visual resources

Using a consistent illustration style and character system across both digital and print materials helped create a cohesive campaign identity that learners could easily connect with.

Animation and Design for Healthcare and Education

Projects like the Smoke Free Ambassador scheme demonstrate how animation and graphic design can play an important role in healthcare communication and education campaigns. By combining engaging visuals with clear messaging, educational content becomes more memorable, accessible and effective for younger audiences.
