Website: Creative Ageing
A project combating isolation for older people living in the very rural county of Herefordshire by delivering high quality arts sessions to improve their personal independence by allowing them to become more active, improving health, well-being and quality of life.
We are proud to present our new website for the Creative Ageing project based at the Courtyard, Hereford.
The Creative Ageing project was first established in 2010 at The Courtyard Arts Centre in Hereford, one of the first arts centres to have a dedicated team engaging older people with the arts, in the vibrant city centre venue, out in the community as part of collaborative projects with groups like Alzheimer’s Society, or delivering specialist arts sessions in care homes across the county.
The project aims to combat isolation for older people living in our very rural county by delivering high quality arts sessions to improve their personal independence by allowing them to become more active, improving health, well-being and quality of life.
They run a huge range of projects & regular classes at The Courtyard, and a range of training programmes for artists, care professionals, or anyone interested in developing their skills to work with older people. You can also read case studies about their past projects on the Courtyard Website.
A huge part of the Creative Ageing participation programme is working with artists, care homes, and community groups to deliver high quality arts experiences for older people,. They specialise in how creativity in all its many forms can aid communication with people who are not able to engage in a way they once were. Working with leading figures in the sphere of arts and dementia we offer a wide range of low cost training opportunities here at The Courtyard. Take a look at their current training programmes which include Dance training, poetry projects, and regular free dementia friends sessions.
