The Rhondda Symphony Orchestra, formed in 1968, draws musicians from across South Wales.

They have a playing strength of over 60, and their players include a whole range of enthusiastic amateurs, school children and students, many music teachers, and some of the original orchestra members.

They perform between 4 and 6 concerts annually in venues across Rhondda Cynon Taf, Bridgend, Caerphilly, Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan. They have a wide-ranging repertoire, from classical through to 21st century, from the well-known and popular classics to the seldom-played and even first performances of new pieces. They like to perform with local young soloists, including winners of their Young Musician of the Valleys competition. Also, biennially they accompany the ‘Voices for Hospices’ performances at venues throughout the Valleys, and enjoy performing with local choirs.

They rehearse every Thursday evening during term-time at Y Pant Comprehensive School, Pontyclun. They welcome new players, Grade 7 or above, and often have vacancies. So if you would like to join, please contact them via their website.

A big happy Birthday from all of us at Studio Savage & Gray.
